Dr Daniel Lewis


Daniel is an experienced rheumatologist (bone, joint and arthritis specialist) and pain physician who integrates mainstream medicine with natural approaches to health and wellbeing.

He is an inaugral Fellow of the Australian College of Lifestyle Medicine.

He has a private specialist medical practice in St Kilda, (Melbourne, Australia) and has previous appointments at Monash Medical Centre, Monash University and Deakin University. He is a member of the government appointed, Victorian Workcover Authority Medical Panels. Daniel is a Past President of Arthritis and Osteoporosis Victoria. He was the co-director of the Deakin University Integrative Health Research Unit formed in 2007.

He conducts a muliti modal Musculo-Skeletal and Pain Management Programs at a rehabilitation hospital in Camberwell. In addition Daniel gives lectures and workshops on a range of medical subjects and has led retreats in Australia and overseas on various aspects of whole person care. He teaches meditation in The Lewis Institute’s More Than Meditation Course which is held regularly throughout the year.

Daniel’s passion is integrating balanced lifestyle practices into the mainstream management of bone, joint and arthritis-related disorders.

The Lewis Institute for Health and Wellbeing evolved out of Daniel’s desire to provide a supportive and empowering educational network for individuals with long term arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, chronic pain – and other persisting illnesses and for those wishing to prevent illness.

Bev draws on her experience as a therapist and researcher in the disciplines of physiotherapy, psychology, bioengineering, meditation and clinical hypnotherapy to offer personalised sessions to enable individuals to manage stress, pain and sleep issues in addition to other problems that may present as obstacles to their
health and well-being.

As Co-Founder and Co-Director of The Lewis Institute for Health and Wellbeing in 2003, Bev continues to evolve experiential courses, such as The More Than Meditation Course, that give people access to the “how to” of creating health and well-being based on current medical and scientific research.

The Pathways to Wellbeing framework is foundational to her work and it allows people to learn about and experience the Pathways that they are interested in.

Bev has also worked extensively with teachers in schools to create curricula that enable 5 to 18 year olds to experience “how to” create health and well-being as well as “how to” enhance the learning process.
